Zielinski: “I only wanted Inter despite many offers, dreaming of scoring against Milan”
Piotr Zielinski recently began his journey with Inter Milan after spending several years at Napoli. The Polish midfielder shared his thoughts with a sports daily, reflecting on his move and future aspirations.
Zielinski emphasized Inter’s status as one of Europe’s top clubs, stating, “They really wanted me. It’s great for a player to feel valued and pursued. I received many offers, but Inter was my only desire.”
Regarding the competition for playing time, Zielinski expressed confidence: “It’s natural in a team with players like Barella, Calhanoglu, and Mkhitaryan. I’m still getting game time, and with our busy schedule, I’m sure I’ll be satisfied with my appearances by the end of the season.”
The midfielder also touched on his disappointment at being excluded from Napoli’s Champions League squad, describing it as his biggest letdown both personally and professionally. He admitted to being angry but accepted the decision, noting that “De Laurentiis doesn’t like certain things.”
When asked to choose between winning the Scudetto or reaching the Champions League final, Zielinski ambitiously replied, “The final, hoping to win it. But I’m not disregarding the Scudetto. Why not aim for both? We have an incredibly strong team.”
Zielinski praised Inter coach Inzaghi, describing him as jovial yet stern when needed, and appreciating his explanatory skills and preparedness.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Polish star expressed his desire to win many trophies with Inter and hoped for a year full of satisfaction, glory, and goals. He added, “Maybe one of those goals will come in the return derby. But if it happens in the Supercoppa, I’ll be just as happy.”
