West Ham Target Young Bundesliga Goalkeeper, Reports Fabrizio Romano
According to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United are showing interest in SC Freiburg’s promising young goalkeeper Noah Atubolu. The 22-year-old has established himself as Freiburg’s first-choice keeper this season despite his young age for the position.
Romano reports that West Ham have sent scouts to watch Atubolu as they consider potential long-term replacements for current number one Lukasz Fabianski. The 38-year-old Fabianski’s contract expires at the end of this season, prompting West Ham to plan for the future between the posts.
While Fabianski remains a key player and delivered an excellent performance in West Ham’s recent 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, the club is wisely looking ahead. Atubolu is valued at around £8 million by Transfermarkt, though Freiburg’s asking price is unclear at this stage.
The 6’2″ Atubolu has impressed in his breakthrough season as Freiburg’s starter. His potential and room for development make him an intriguing target as West Ham aim to find a long-term successor to the reliable Fabianski.
With Technical Director Tim Steidten overseeing recruitment, West Ham appear to be taking a proactive approach in identifying young goalkeeping talent. Atubolu represents the type of up-and-coming player who could potentially anchor West Ham’s defense for years to come if a move materializes.
