West Ham submits £25 million offer for striker previously targeted under Moyes
West Ham United has reignited their interest in Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto by submitting a £25 million bid for the Brazilian striker. The London club had previously attempted to sign Alberto when David Moyes was still manager, but their £13 million offer was rejected last year.
Alberto has been in excellent form, winning Brazil’s Golden Boot award after scoring 31 goals across all competitions in 2024. West Ham are keen to bolster their attacking options, with Michail Antonio sidelined due to injury and summer signing Niclas Fullkrug struggling with fitness issues.
However, Corinthians president Duilio Monteiro Alves has once again turned down West Ham’s advances. According to South American journalist Neto, the Brazilian club received the £25 million offer but does not want to sell Alberto at this time.
Neto stated: “I had said that he (Yuri Alberto) would be sold for £25m to West Ham, but that will no longer happen, because he will stay until the July 2025 window. Corinthians received an offer of €30m, but did not want to sell Yuri Alberto at that moment.”
It appears a transfer for the 23-year-old striker is more likely to occur next summer rather than in the January window. West Ham may have to look at alternative targets as they seek to strengthen their forward line this month.
