Vinicius Junior Reflects on Winning The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2024 Award
Real Madrid’s star forward Vinicius Junior has made a bold statement after receiving The Best FIFA Men’s Player award for 2024, declaring himself as the world’s finest footballer.
“I came, I saw, I conquered,” Vinicius began, addressing his younger self who once watched his idols lift this prestigious trophy. “My time has come. It’s time to say… yes, I am the best player in the world, and I’ve fought hard for this recognition.”
The Brazilian continued, “They’ve tried and continue trying to undervalue and belittle me. But they’re not prepared. No one will dictate who I should fight for or how I should behave. Growing up in São Gonçalo, the system didn’t care about me. I was almost swallowed up.”
Vinicius expressed gratitude for his support system: “I’ve won this for myself and my family. With tremendous support along the way: Flamengo, Real Madrid, the Brazilian national team, hundreds of my teammates over the years… people who accompany me daily in my life, those who admire me… THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD.”
In the final voting tally, the Brazilian attacker secured 48 points. Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri finished second with 43 points, while Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham came in third with 37 points.
