Verona Football Club Acquisition by Presidio Investors Finalized
Following in the footsteps of Genoa, Hellas Verona is set for a change in ownership. Overnight, negotiations concluded for the transfer of the club to Presidio Investors, a US-based private equity firm headquartered in Austin, Texas.
The formal announcement of the sale of Maurizio Setti’s club is expected imminently, certainly before the end of 2024. Early reports suggest that Italo Zanzi, who held a similar position at Roma from 2012 to 2016, is likely to be appointed as the new CEO. Sean Sogliano is expected to remain in a management role, at least until the end of the year.
The parties are believed to have agreed on a figure slightly below the initially discussed 72-75 million euros. The football community eagerly awaits the official statement confirming the agreement.
This acquisition marks a significant shift in the Italian football landscape, with another Serie A club coming under foreign ownership. The impact of this change on Verona’s future performance and financial stability remains to be seen.
