Valencia FC Parts Ways with Head Coach Rubén Baraja
Valencia Football Club has officially announced the termination of their collaboration with head coach Rubén Baraja. The decision comes in the wake of the team’s underwhelming performance this season.
In an official statement, the club expressed gratitude towards Baraja, saying, “The club thanks Baraja for his enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment demonstrated from his first day to his last with the team. Valencia wishes Rubén Baraja good luck and great success in his future endeavors.”
Baraja had been at the helm of Valencia since February 2023. After 17 matches in the current season, the team, nicknamed “Los Che” (The Bats), finds itself in a precarious 19th position out of 20 in the La Liga standings, having accumulated only 12 points.
The 49-year-old Baraja has a rich history with Valencia as a player. During his tenure from 2000 to 2010, he contributed to the club’s two Spanish championships, reached a Champions League final, and secured a UEFA Super Cup victory.
As Valencia seeks to improve its standing in La Liga, the search for a new head coach who can turn the team’s fortunes around is expected to begin immediately.
