Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on the recovery of Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who remains an influential figure in the team despite being sidelined with an injury.

Vicario, who joined Spurs from Empoli, underwent ankle surgery in November and was initially expected to be out of action for several months. During a pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Liverpool, Postecoglou shared insights on the goalkeeper’s progress.

“Vic’s recovery is proceeding well, which is typical of him,” Postecoglou stated. “He’s pushing every limit possible. While there’s still a considerable way to go, he’s determined to return as quickly as he can, regardless of the projected timeline.”

The manager emphasized Vicario’s continued presence and impact on the team, noting, “He’s still very much involved with the squad. You see him at matches and he’s present at every training session. He’s one of our key leaders, and his rehabilitation is progressing positively.”

Prior to his injury, Vicario had impressed in his 15 appearances for Tottenham this season, maintaining four clean sheets while conceding 15 goals. His return date remains uncertain, including his availability for Italy’s upcoming Nations League quarter-final against Germany in March 2025.

Vicario, who has represented Italy four times since his debut in March 2024, is under contract with Tottenham until June 2028. His quick adaptation and strong performances have already established him as a crucial member of the Spurs squad.
