Tottenham May Land Ideal Son Replacement for £25m

Tottenham Hotspur’s impressive 5-0 victory over Southampton has lifted spirits at the club, but the search for a long-term replacement for Son Heung-min continues. The South Korean star, now 32, has been a key player for Spurs, contributing 125 goals and 68 assists in 316 Premier League appearances.

However, as Son enters the latter stages of his career, Tottenham are reportedly considering Lyon’s Rayan Cherki as a potential successor. The 21-year-old French talent has drawn comparisons to Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and could be available for just £25m due to Lyon’s financial situation.

Cherki has impressed this season, scoring 5 goals and providing 7 assists in 17 appearances. His statistics are comparable to Palmer’s in several key areas, including non-penalty goals and assists, progressive carries, and goal-creating actions per 90 minutes.

Respected analyst Ben Mattinson has described Cherki as having “Ballon d’Or potential,” highlighting the youngster’s immense talent. While signing Cherki would represent a gamble, his potential and current form suggest he could develop into the type of player capable of filling Son’s shoes at Tottenham.

As Ange Postecoglou looks to build a title-winning team in the coming years, securing a player of Cherki’s caliber for a relatively modest fee could prove to be a shrewd piece of business for Tottenham Hotspur.
