Tottenham Eyes Move for Championship’s Leading Passer

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly showing interest in acquiring Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk, who currently leads the Championship in completed passes this season. The 25-year-old Dutch center-back has been a key player for Leeds since joining in 2020, approaching 150 appearances for the club.

According to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, Spurs are among several Premier League clubs monitoring Struijk’s situation. Bailey noted that Struijk is entering his prime years and has flown under the radar for many outside of Leeds, but his performances have caught the attention of top-flight teams.

Struijk’s passing ability appears to be a major draw, as he leads all Championship players with 1,719 completed passes through 21 matches this season. This skillset could appeal to Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou’s possession-based system.

The potential move for Struijk comes as Tottenham look to bolster their defensive options following injuries to Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. The club has been forced to rely on makeshift options at center-back in recent weeks.

While Leeds will likely aim to retain Struijk, especially as they push for promotion back to the Premier League, his long-term future at Elland Road may depend on the club securing top-flight status. Tottenham’s interest suggests they view the Dutch defender as a player who could strengthen their backline for years to come.
