Top 10 Most Expensive Serie A Winter Transfers
As the January transfer window approaches in Serie A, let’s revisit the most costly winter acquisitions in the league’s history.
Dusan Vlahovic remains the most expensive January transfer ever, both for incoming and outgoing players. Juventus paid Fiorentina €70 million plus up to €10 million in bonuses in 2022, a record unlikely to be broken in January 2025.
Juventus also made the second-most expensive January signing in Serie A history by acquiring Dejan Kulusevski in January 2022.
AC Milan rounds out the top three with their €35 million purchase of Lucas Paqueta from Flamengo in 2019.
Interestingly, several of the top 10 most expensive January transfers occurred over two decades ago, with one dating back to the 1990s. These include Clarence Seedorf’s move from Real Madrid to Inter in December 1999, Adriano’s transfer from Parma to Inter in 2004, and Hidetoshi Nakata joining Roma from Perugia in winter 2000.
