Theo Hernandez Expected to Return to AC Milan Starting Lineup
After being left out of the starting eleven for AC Milan’s last two Serie A matches, left-back Theo Hernandez appears set to make his return to the lineup this weekend against Roma.
Hernandez was an unused substitute in Milan’s 0-0 draw with Genoa and only came on as a second-half replacement in their 1-0 victory over Verona on December 20. However, reports from Italy suggest the French defender will likely reclaim his starting spot on Sunday.
Manager Stefano Pioli is considering deploying Hernandez at his natural left-back position while moving Alex Jimenez, who impressed in Hernandez’s absence, further up the pitch to left wing. This tactical adjustment comes as Rafael Leao remains unavailable due to injury.
Milan are dealing with several other injury concerns heading into the Roma match. Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Yunus Musah and Noah Okafor are all expected to miss out as well. The return of Hernandez to the starting lineup could provide a boost for the Rossoneri as they look to continue their push up the Serie A table.
