Theo Hernandez Expected to Remain on Milan’s Bench for Second Straight Match

AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez is poised to be left out of the starting lineup for a second consecutive match as the Rossoneri travel to face Hellas Verona. Manager Paulo Fonseca appears intent on continuing to bench the French left-back in an effort to elicit an improved performance.

Fonseca previously employed a similar tactic with forward Rafael Leao earlier in the season, which seemed to yield positive results. The Portuguese coach is hoping for a comparable outcome with Hernandez, who has struggled to find his best form so far this campaign.

Reports suggest 19-year-old Alex Jimenez will once again deputize at left-back after an encouraging display against Genoa last weekend. However, Hernandez’s extended absence from the first team could potentially complicate ongoing contract negotiations between the player and the club.

The 27-year-old defender was reportedly disheartened by criticism from supporters during a recent team event. This, coupled with his current situation under Fonseca, may impact discussions regarding a new deal at San Siro. Additional meetings are expected to be necessary to reach an agreement, especially if Hernandez’s relationship with the manager does not improve in the near future.
