Swedish Prosecutors Close Mbappé Investigation

The Swedish Prosecution Authority has officially closed the investigation into Kylian Mbappé, clearing the French football star of any involvement in an alleged sexual assault case. This decision was announced through an official statement from the Swedish justice system, effectively exonerating the player from any suspicion.

In October, Mbappé found himself at the center of a scandal when Swedish media reported he was a potential suspect in an alleged assault that occurred at the hotel where the French national team was staying during a training camp. Since then, the player has been under intense media scrutiny regarding this non-sporting matter.

However, on Thursday, December 12, Swedish authorities definitively ruled out Mbappé’s involvement in the case. The official statement read: “During the investigation, one person was identified with reasonable suspicion of rape and two cases of sexual harassment, but I consider that the evidence is insufficient to proceed with the case, and therefore the investigation is closed. The designated person has not been notified of suspicion of a crime.”

This announcement puts an end to a case that has surrounded Mbappé for the past two months. Despite Swedish media reports implicating him, Mbappé was never officially accused by the justice system. Recently, in an interview with French Canal+, the player expressed his calmness about the situation and reviewed the events: “If justice calls me, I will go with complete naturalness. I’m still talking all the time with the girl I spent the night with (referring to his alibi).”

With this development, the matter is now closed for Mbappé, allowing him to put this episode behind him and focus on his football career.
