Super League Organizers Propose New ‘Unify League’ to FIFA and UEFA

Super League Organizers Propose New ‘Unify League’ to FIFA and UEFA

A22 Sports Management, the organization behind the European Super League project, has officially presented a new proposal to FIFA and UEFA for a pan-European football competition called the “Unify League”. This move comes three years after the unsuccessful attempt to launch the European Super League.

According to an official statement, A22 has requested formal recognition from UEFA and FIFA for this new competition, which aims to bring together clubs from across Europe. This proposal follows a December 2023 ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union, which stated that competitions with merit-based qualification and adherence to existing schedules could be established without violating EU law.

The Unify League proposal differs significantly from the original European Super League concept. Most notably, it is based on a system of meritocracy and is open to clubs from all 55 recognized European top divisions. This inclusive approach addresses one of the main criticisms of the previous Super League plan, which was seen as an exclusive competition for elite clubs.

The submission of this new proposal marks a fresh attempt by A22 to reshape European club football. It remains to be seen how UEFA and FIFA will respond to this initiative and what impact it may have on the future landscape of European football competitions.
