Stone Thrown at Guendouzi During Lecce-Lazio Match
An unfortunate incident occurred towards the end of the Lecce-Lazio match, part of the 17th round of Serie A, played on Saturday evening at the Via del Mare Stadium. After Marusic scored the winning goal for a 2-1 victory, Lazio players celebrated near their away supporters. As they were returning to their half of the field to resume play, a home fan allegedly threw a stone onto the pitch.
French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi picked up the stone and handed it to the fourth official, Tremolada, despite his teammate Pedro’s attempt to stop him. Match officials are expected to report this incident in their match report, after which the Serie A disciplinary committee will decide on any punitive measures against the Puglia-based club.
The situation on the field led to increased tension, with Lecce’s bench becoming agitated due to time-wasting. As a result, Albanian midfielder Ylber Ramadani received a yellow card from referee Manganiello.
