Son Heung-min Highlights Promising Tottenham Youth Prospect
Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has expressed excitement about a talented young player who recently joined the club’s ranks. Son praised 18-year-old South Korean winger Yang Min-hyeok, who arrived at Tottenham earlier than originally planned.
Yang was initially set to join Tottenham in January after completing a loan spell with Gangwon FC. However, he has now linked up with the squad a month ahead of schedule. The teenage prospect impressed in South Korea’s K League 1, scoring 12 goals and providing 5 assists in 38 appearances for Gangwon in 2023.
Son highlighted Yang’s attacking output and positive attributes, comparing him to another highly-rated Tottenham youth player:
“He’s around the same age as Mikey Moore. Yang had a fantastic first season in the K-League with lots of goals and assists. He’s a bright, fearless player and I’m thrilled he’s joining us. I’ll try to support him as much as possible, but we need to avoid putting too much pressure on him. The most important thing is for him to focus on his football development.”
While Yang is not eligible to play for Tottenham until January 1st, his early arrival allows him to begin training with the first team. Son believes the young winger has the potential to become a fan favorite, much like fellow teenager Mikey Moore.
Tottenham’s coaching staff are also said to be very excited about Yang’s potential. There is optimism within the club that he could develop into a special player and potentially become one of their shrewdest signings in recent years.
With Tottenham currently dealing with several injuries, manager Ange Postecoglou may look to integrate promising youth prospects like Yang into the first-team setup sooner rather than later. The South Korean teenager’s progress will certainly be one to watch in the coming months as he adapts to English football.
