Simone Muratore Makes Comeback to Juventus in New Youth Team Role
Less than a week after announcing his retirement, Simone Muratore has returned to Juventus. The 25-year-old former player was forced to end his playing career due to a left ventricular neurocytoma discovered in 2021. Muratore, who came through Juventus’ youth ranks and made his Champions League debut for the club, is now set to take on a new role within the organization.
Juventus has officially announced that Muratore will join the Primavera (youth) team as a collaborator. This appointment marks a significant transition for the young man who once wore the black and white stripes on the pitch.
In their official statement, Juventus highlighted Muratore’s deep familiarity with the club’s youth sector, which he was part of until 2018. From 2018 to 2020, he was a regular in the Next Gen team, participating in 54 matches across various competitions and scoring three goals. During the 2019-20 season, he also made five appearances for the first team, including one in the Champions League.
After his time at Juventus, Muratore moved to Atalanta and had loan spells at Reggiana in Serie B and Portuguese club Tondela before health issues forced him to step away from the game.
The club expressed their happiness at Muratore’s recovery and welcomed him back, stating, “We are thrilled that his health problems have been resolved, and we are equally pleased to welcome him back to share his experience with our young players. Good luck, Simo!”
This new chapter in Muratore’s career demonstrates the club’s commitment to supporting their own and provides an inspiring example of resilience in the face of adversity.
