Despite this setback, Inter continues to gain ground on Atalanta, thanks to their emphatic victory over Lazio – a team that had been level on points with Inter before the match.

This result sends a strong message, as it marks Inter’s first major victory against a top contender this season, following a loss to Milan and draws with Juventus and Napoli. Their only previous win against a top team was against current leaders Atalanta.

Fiorentina remains tied with Lazio on points, also with a game in hand, while Juventus is falling behind after a series of disappointing draws. Among the top eight teams, Bologna and Milan have also played only 15 matches, as their fixture was postponed due to flood warnings.
