Serie A Disciplinary Rulings: Player Suspensions and Club Penalties
The Serie A Disciplinary Committee has announced its decisions following the 16th round of matches in the Italian top flight. Several players face suspensions, while clubs have been fined for various infractions.
Player Suspensions
Mattia De Sciglio of Empoli has received a one-match ban and a €5,000 fine for disrespectful conduct towards the referee and striking the bench after being sent off. Other players facing one-match suspensions include:
- Saul Basilio Coco Bassey (Torino)
- Domilson Cordeiro dos Santos (Fiorentina)
- Marten Elco de Roon (Atalanta)
- Daniel Maldini (Monza)
These suspensions are due to accumulation of yellow cards or protests against match officials.
Club Fines
Several clubs have been penalized for fan misconduct:
- Fiorentina: €10,000 for supporters throwing pyrotechnics and a seat onto the field
- AC Milan: €10,000 for fans using laser pointers against an opposing player and the referee
- Cagliari: €3,000 for fans throwing firecrackers
- Lecce: €3,000 for supporters launching a firecracker and smoke bomb
- Bologna: €2,000 for fans throwing smoke bombs
- Torino: €1,500 for a smoke bomb incident
These fines were reduced due to the clubs’ cooperation in identifying the offenders.
