Salvatore Bocchetti’s Monza: A New Tactical Approach in Serie A
Following Alessandro Nesta’s dismissal, Monza’s CEO Adriano Galliani has entrusted Salvatore Bocchetti with the challenging task of steering the club away from relegation. Despite limited experience, Bocchetti’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Monza, who currently sit at the bottom of the Serie A table.
Bocchetti, at 38, brings tactical knowledge from his time as Igor Tudor’s assistant and experience in Hellas Verona’s youth sector. His primary objective will be to address Monza’s defensive vulnerabilities, having conceded 23 goals this season. The new coach is expected to maintain the three-man defense, featuring players like Izzo, Pablo Marí, and Carboni.
In midfield, Bocchetti may alternate between a three and four-man setup, with Akpa-Akpro potentially returning from Lazio. The wing-back positions could see the return of Patrick Ciurria, offering a strong alternative to current options.
Offensively, Bocchetti’s Monza might employ various formations, including two strikers or a trequartista behind the forwards. Daniel Maldini is likely to play a key role, with Gianluca Caprari and Dany Mota as additional attacking options. The team’s success may hinge on improved performances from these players as Monza fights to secure their Serie A status.
