Rome Mayor Discusses Stadium Projects for AS Roma and Lazio
Roberto Gualtieri, the Mayor of Rome, recently provided an update on the stadium projects for the city’s two major football clubs, AS Roma and Lazio. In his statement, he emphasized that both clubs are now in a position to have their own privately-owned stadiums.
Regarding AS Roma’s project, Gualtieri noted that it is in an advanced stage, with the technical work nearing completion. He described it as a high-level project that will revitalize an entire district of the city, including the creation of green spaces. While expressing enthusiasm, the mayor refrained from revealing specific details.
As for Lazio’s proposal, Gualtieri mentioned that club president Claudio Lotito has presented a plan that goes beyond just a stadium, encompassing the rehabilitation of a wider area. The project involves renovating and restoring a historic venue that is currently unusable. The mayor expressed approval of the initial plans, stating that city officials are already in the process of examining the proposal.
Gualtieri’s comments reflect the city’s commitment to supporting both clubs in their efforts to develop modern, privately-owned stadiums, which could potentially bring significant benefits to their respective neighborhoods and the city as a whole.
