Roma’s January Transfer Window Priorities: Potential Squad Overhaul

AS Roma may be poised for significant squad changes in the January 2025 transfer window, though questions remain about the futures of key players like Paulo Dybala and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

After a dismal start to the 2024-25 campaign that saw three managerial changes, Roma appear to have found some stability under Claudio Ranieri since his November appointment. However, reinforcements will be crucial if the Giallorossi hope to climb the table in the second half of the season.

Reports indicate Roma have identified three priority positions to strengthen in January: right-back, left-back, and striker. The club is seeking a potential starting right-back to compete with Zeki Celik, as well as solid backup options at left-back and center forward to provide depth behind Angelino and Artem Dovbyk respectively.

Roma may also look to add a center back, particularly if Mario Hermoso departs next month. On the outgoing front, star forward Paulo Dybala has received interest from Galatasaray. With just six months left on his contract and a €12 million release clause, Roma would likely accept a reasonable offer for the Argentine.

The club is also open to offers for captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, though no concrete proposals have materialized yet. As Roma aim to revamp their struggling squad, the January window could mark the beginning of a major overhaul at the Stadio Olimpico.
