Roma’s Christmas Wishlist: New Manager and Attacking Reinforcements
Claudio Ranieri has brought some calm to Trigoria after a challenging start to the season. The victory over Parma allowed the Giallorossi to breathe easier, but now the coach is expecting some gifts from the transfer market. However, the first present he needs to deliver himself is a new manager. The search continues alongside Ghisolfi, with Allegri, Ancelotti, and recently Gasperini on the shortlist. They’ve promised a top-tier coach, but if that doesn’t materialize, Ranieri might find a contract extension under the tree, though it’s currently the least likely scenario.
In terms of reinforcements, Roma needs to address their defense. Ranieri wants to continue with a three-man backline, necessitating at least one new center-back. Di Cesare and Luiz Felipe are being considered. If Hermoso departs, they’ll need two. On the right flank, while Saelemaekers is performing well, it’s not enough. Delprato, Zappa, Rensch, and Aarons from Bournemouth are on the radar.
In attack, Ranieri’s primary wish is to retain Paulo Dybala. With no offers from Galatasaray and Dybala expressing his desire to stay, both the manager and fans are hopeful. The club is also looking to bolster their offensive options to provide rest for Dovbyk. Beto is of interest, with the Friedkins’ connection to Everton potentially helping, though Torino is also in the mix. There’s also interest in Raspadori, who might be involved in an exchange deal with Pellegrini. Speaking of Lorenzo, Christmas needs to bring him serenity after difficult months, allowing him to reclaim his place in Roma.
