Romanian Tycoon Dan Sucu Becomes Majority Owner of Genoa CFC

Genoa Cricket and Football Club has officially announced a significant change in ownership. Romanian entrepreneur Dan Sucu has acquired a majority stake in the club, marking a new chapter in the history of Italy’s oldest football team.

The club’s board of directors approved a capital increase of 45.3 million euros, with Sucu’s investment vehicle fully subscribing to the 40 million euro paid portion. This transaction has resulted in Sucu obtaining approximately 77% of Genoa CFC’s share capital, relegating previous shareholders to minority status.

Dan Sucu, born in Bucharest on April 25, 1963, is a prominent figure in the international business community. He is best known as the founder of Mobexpert, Romania’s largest furniture brand employing over 2,200 people. Sucu has also made significant investments in real estate and, since 2022, in the media sector, playing a key role in the economic newspaper Ziarul Financiar.

A sports enthusiast, Sucu already owns 90% of Rapid Bucharest football club. His approach to football management emphasizes youth development and community engagement, with Rapid’s academy currently nurturing about 700 young athletes.

This change in ownership represents a fresh start for Genoa CFC. The club hopes that Sucu’s involvement will bring financial stability and new investments to strengthen the team and improve infrastructure. Genoa CFC has expressed gratitude to its fans for their ongoing support and looks forward to a future that will solidify the club’s prestige and bring the success it deserves.
