Romanian Businessman Dan Șucu Acquires Majority Stake in Genoa FC
Genoa Football Club has officially announced a change in ownership, with Romanian entrepreneur Dan Șucu acquiring a controlling interest in the Serie A team. The club confirmed on Wednesday that Șucu has purchased approximately 77% of Genoa’s shares through a capital increase valued at over €45 million.
This acquisition marks a new chapter for Italy’s oldest football club, which had been seeking new investors following the bankruptcy of its previous owners, 777 Partners, in October. Dan Șucu, a 61-year-old businessman, is already the owner of Romanian club Rapid Bucharest and the founder of Mobexpert, Romania’s largest furniture brand. He has also invested in real estate and media sectors, and is known for his approach to using football as a means of promoting social impact.
