Rescue Puppies to Join Verona and Milan Players for Serie A Match
In a heartwarming initiative, Hellas Verona has announced that rescue puppies will accompany players onto the pitch for their upcoming Serie A match against AC Milan. This special event aims to raise awareness for animal adoption and welfare.
The match is scheduled to take place at the Stadio Bentegodi on Friday at 19:45 GMT, kicking off Week 17 of the Serie A season. As players enter the field, seven puppies from the ENPA cats and dogs rescue center will join them, carried by the team captains and five other players.
Hellas Verona has formally adopted these puppies – two males and five females – and will cover the costs of their care at the shelter. The club hopes that this high-profile appearance will help the puppies find permanent homes among the millions of viewers watching the game.
Each puppy has been given a name that reflects the club and city’s heritage: Zeno, Mastino, Olimpia, Arena, Bra, Hellas, and Verona. To further support the cause, match-worn shirts from Hellas players will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to the animal shelter.
This unique initiative not only adds a touch of cuteness to the pre-match proceedings but also serves as a powerful platform to promote animal adoption and support local animal welfare organizations. It’s a testament to how football clubs can use their influence to make a positive impact beyond the sport.
