Rennes Considers Move for Celtic’s Star Striker Kyogo Furuhashi

According to recent reports, French Ligue 1 club Rennes is showing interest in acquiring Celtic’s prolific striker Kyogo Furuhashi. The 29-year-old Japanese international has been in impressive form this season, netting 12 goals and providing 3 assists in 29 appearances for the Scottish champions.

Rennes has reportedly initiated discussions with both Celtic and Furuhashi’s representatives. The striker, who is currently thriving under manager Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, has a contract with the club until 2027. However, Rennes is keen to bolster their attacking options as they struggle in 13th place in Ligue 1.

The French side’s interest in Furuhashi stems from their need for a reliable goalscorer to complement young talent Arnaud Kalimuendo. With Amine Gouiri underperforming and other attacking options limited, Rennes sees Furuhashi as a potential solution to their offensive woes.

However, the potential transfer faces some obstacles. While Rennes manager Jorge Sampaoli is reportedly enthusiastic about signing Furuhashi, the club’s sporting director Frederic Massara appears less convinced. Additionally, Celtic may be reluctant to part with their star striker mid-season, especially considering their ongoing Champions League campaign.

As the transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on whether Rennes can persuade Celtic to part with their prized asset and if Furuhashi would be open to a move to Ligue 1.
