Real Madrid Demands Punishment for Valencia Fans’ Racist Actions
Real Madrid has officially condemned the behavior of Valencia supporters towards their forward Vinicius Junior during a recent La Liga match. The incident occurred during a rescheduled game from the 12th round of the Spanish championship on January 3rd, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Valencia.
The controversy arose when Vinicius Junior received a direct red card in the 79th minute. The Brazilian player first made an offensive gesture towards the home crowd and then pushed Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski. Real Madrid claims that Valencia fans once again displayed racist behavior towards Vinicius, presenting video evidence recorded by spectators in the stands that capture various insults directed at the player.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred involving Vinicius and Valencia supporters. A previous scandal resulted in the arrest of three fans, who were sentenced to 8 months in prison. They were also banned from attending stadiums in Spain for 2 years and received a lifetime ban from Valencia’s home matches.
Real Madrid expressed regret over the recurrence of racist attacks at the Mestalla stadium and called for attention to be paid to Dimitrievski’s behavior, which may have provoked Vinicius (the goalkeeper patted the Brazilian on the head after an unsuccessful dribbling attempt in the penalty area).
The club has urged for stricter measures to be taken against discriminatory fan behavior in Spanish football, emphasizing the need to protect players from racial abuse and create a more inclusive environment in the sport.
