Real Madrid Criticizes Refereeing in Draw with Rayo Vallecano
Real Madrid’s press office has released a statement following their La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano, expressing strong dissatisfaction with several contentious refereeing decisions during the game.
The match, which took place on December 14th at the Campo de Vallecas stadium in Madrid, ended in a high-scoring 3-3 draw. In the closing stages of the game, the main referee declined to award a penalty when Real Madrid’s winger Vinicius Junior appeared to be fouled in the box.
“The most controversial moment of the match occurred in the 75th minute,” the statement reads. “Mumin clearly brought down Vinicius in the penalty area, but Martinez Munuera did not award a penalty. Additionally, VAR official Gonzalez Fuertes chose not to intervene in the situation.”
Real Madrid believes that these “questionable refereeing decisions prevented the team from securing a victory” in this fixture.
Following this result, Real Madrid sits in second place in the La Liga table with 37 points, just one point behind leaders Barcelona. Rayo Vallecano occupies the 13th position with 20 points.
