Real Madrid and Manchester City Compete for RC Lens Defender Abdukodir Khusanov
The transfer saga surrounding RC Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov is intensifying. The 20-year-old Uzbekistan international has caught the attention of several top European clubs, with Lens signaling their willingness to facilitate a transfer this January.
Lens CEO Pierre Dréossi recently confirmed in a DAZN interview that Khusanov “will depart” this month, although no satisfactory offers have been received yet. This development comes as Lens faces financial constraints, making their most promising and marketable players available for transfer.
According to recent reports, Real Madrid has joined the list of potential suitors, with at least 15 clubs across Europe expressing interest. The Spanish giants have already initiated contact regarding the player.
Newcastle United and Manchester City have also shown concrete interest in Khusanov. City has already held a meeting with the player’s father, Khikmatzhon Khoshimov, and his agent, Khasbiullin Gairat. The player’s representatives expressed gratitude towards Lens but emphasized that the final decision rests with Khusanov, who is open to remaining at Lens for a few more months if necessary.
Other interested clubs include Bayer Leverkusen, Napoli, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund. Lens believes the time is right to capitalize on Khusanov’s value and has enlisted Jorge Mendes to help find a new club for the defender. The French club is seeking over €40 million for Khusanov, a figure they consider achievable given the widespread interest in the player.
