RB Leipzig’s Sports Director Schröder Joins Red Bull Salzburg, Declines Spartak Moscow Offer
Rouven Schröder, the German sports director previously with RB Leipzig, has accepted a position at Red Bull Salzburg, turning down an offer from Spartak Moscow. This decision came after Jürgen Klopp joined the Red Bull organization as director of international relations.
Schröder, 49, opted to continue his career within the Red Bull system rather than pursuing opportunities in Russia. He began working with Red Bull in April 2023 following his departure from Schalke 04. On December 1, 2024, Schröder signed a contract with Red Bull Salzburg, set to run until 2028, taking on the role of sports director for the club.
The move demonstrates Schröder’s preference for maintaining ties within the Red Bull organization, which has a strong presence in European football. His decision to join Salzburg over Spartak Moscow reflects the changing landscape of international football management and the appeal of established sporting networks.
