Following Roma’s impressive 5-0 triumph over Parma, manager Claudio Ranieri shared his insights on the team’s performance and key players. The victory came as a welcome boost after Roma’s recent 2-0 defeat to Como.
Ranieri emphasized the need for continuous improvement, stating, “We must keep enhancing our performance. The team has moved past the Como setback, allowing us to enjoy the holidays. However, we need to address our away game performance, as Roma hasn’t secured an away win in Serie A for eight months.”
Notably, Ranieri made no substitutions during the match. He explained, “I saw the right attitude and focus from the players, so I decided to maintain the lineup. This doesn’t indicate a fixed first-choice eleven; it was simply the right decision for this game.”
Regarding Paulo Dybala, who has been linked with a potential move to Galatasaray, Ranieri stressed his importance: “There’s a distinct difference in Roma’s play with and without Dybala. He plays when he’s in top form, and his presence significantly impacts our performance.”
Ranieri also praised experienced players like Mats Hummels and Leandro Paredes: “These are the type of players I admire – they bring experience and can control the game’s rhythm.”
For striker Artem Dovbyk, who scored late in the game, Ranieri offered advice: “I appreciated his movement and teamwork, but he needs to be more direct in front of goal. A striker shouldn’t fear making mistakes; sometimes, those lead to goals too.”
Looking ahead, Roma faces challenging matches against Milan and Lazio. Ranieri concluded, “We must approach each game individually and work our way up. The upcoming match at San Siro will be a crucial test for us.”
