Rafael Leao’s Injury Update: Medical Examination Results
AC Milan’s star forward Rafael Leao underwent medical examinations on Saturday following an injury sustained during Friday’s match against Hellas Verona. Initial reports suggest Leao has suffered an elongation of the flexor muscle in his left thigh.
The Portuguese international was forced to leave the field in the first half of Milan’s away fixture. While the full extent of the injury is yet to be determined, Leao is scheduled for another MRI scan next week to provide a more comprehensive assessment.
This setback puts Leao’s participation in Milan’s final match of the year against Roma on December 29 in serious doubt. Sources close to the club indicate that he will almost certainly miss the Roma game and could potentially be sidelined for the Supercoppa semifinal clash with Juventus on January 3.
Milan’s head coach Paulo Fonseca attempted to downplay concerns, stating after the Verona match that Leao’s injury was “not serious.” However, with nine first-team players already unavailable, Fonseca faces a challenging situation as the team enters a crucial period of the season.
There is some positive news for Milan, as midfielder Ismael Bennacer has resumed training with the group and is expected to be available for selection against Roma.
Leao, Milan’s highest-paid player, has been a key contributor this season with six goals and six assists in 22 appearances across all competitions. His absence will be keenly felt as the team navigates the upcoming fixtures.
