Pulisic Faces New Injury Setback for AC Milan
AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca has announced that winger Christian Pulisic will be unavailable for the team’s upcoming Serie A match against Roma on Sunday due to a newly developed ankle issue. This comes as a disappointment, as Pulisic had recently recovered from a calf injury.
The American international had been sidelined with a calf problem after limping off during Milan’s 2-1 defeat to Atalanta in early December. While he has overcome that injury, Fonseca revealed in a press conference on Saturday that Pulisic has now encountered an ankle setback during his rehabilitation process.
“We had expected to have Pulisic available as he had recovered from the calf injury. However, he’s experienced an ankle problem over the past couple days,” Fonseca explained. “This occurred during his recovery, so he won’t be ready to play tomorrow, not even as a substitute.”
Initial reports had suggested Milan were hopeful Pulisic could return in time for the Supercoppa Italiana in early January. However, this latest setback puts his availability for that competition in doubt as well.
The timing is unfortunate for Milan, as they look to stay in contention near the top of the Serie A table. Pulisic’s absence removes a key attacking threat as they prepare to face Roma in an important league fixture.
