PSG Star Declines Contract Renewal Amid Manchester United Interest

According to recent reports, a key player for Paris Saint-Germain is opting not to renew his contract with the French club, as Manchester United expresses significant interest in acquiring his services.

With the January transfer window approaching, new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is looking to shape the squad to his vision. The club has already made contact regarding Brazilian goalkeeper John Victor from Botafogo.

However, the more intriguing development concerns PSG left-back Nuno Mendes. The 22-year-old Portuguese international, who earns approximately £1.2 million annually, has been a regular starter for PSG since joining from Sporting CP in 2021.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg states that Manchester United remains “strongly interested” in signing Mendes. Despite PSG’s desire to extend his contract beyond 2026, the defender is currently not planning to renew.

Mendes has made 15 appearances for PSG this season, contributing 2 goals and 2 assists. His potential move to United could be facilitated by the fact that he shares an agent with manager Ruben Amorim.

While Mendes represents a more expensive option for strengthening United’s left-back position, his talent and potential make him an attractive target for the Red Devils as they look to bolster their defensive options.
