PSG Coach Uncertain About Kimpembe’s Return from Long-Term Injury
Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe has been out of action for over a year due to a serious Achilles injury. The French international last played in February 2023, when he was stretchered off during a match against Marseille.
While Kimpembe was included in PSG’s Champions League squad list last month, he has yet to feature for the team since his injury. Manager Luis Enrique expressed uncertainty about when the 29-year-old center-back might return to the pitch.
“To be honest, I don’t know when he’ll be back,” Enrique said at a press conference. “I’m always pleased to see players return from injury. Training sessions are the best way to assess their condition.”
Kimpembe resumed training with the club in October, and teammate Ousmane Dembélé recently stated that he is doing well. Despite his prolonged absence, Kimpembe signed a contract extension with PSG in December, committing to the club until 2026.
The defender has been an integral part of PSG’s success, helping the team win seven league titles. He was also named to the Ligue 1 Team of the Year for the 2020-21 season. Fans and the club alike are eager to see the World Cup winner back in action, but for now, his return date remains uncertain.
