Pereira Should Deploy Wolves’ Star Forward Against Manchester United
Vitor Pereira got off to an ideal start as Wolverhampton Wanderers manager with a convincing 3-0 away victory over Leicester City. Now the Portuguese coach faces his first home test in the Premier League, hoping to make it two wins from two against a struggling Manchester United side.
Pereira will be confident his top performers from the Leicester match can deliver again. Bringing Goncalo Guedes back into the starting lineup paid dividends, as the winger fired home an early opener. Young Rodrigo Gomes also impressed after being handed a start, doubling Wolves’ lead.
However, there’s one player who Pereira will be especially keen to unleash on United’s vulnerable defense – star striker Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian has been in scintillating form this season with 9 goals and 3 assists in 17 appearances so far.
Cunha will fancy his chances against a United backline that has conceded 12 goals in their last 5 matches across all competitions. The forward’s explosive pace and clinical finishing could cause major problems for the Red Devils.
With United reportedly interested in signing Cunha in January, the striker will have extra motivation to put on a show at Molineux. If Pereira gives Cunha free rein to lead the line, Wolves could inflict further damage on their opponents and continue their winning momentum under their new manager.
