Pereira may need to bench Andre and Bueno for Leicester clash
New Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira faces some difficult decisions ahead of his first match in charge against Leicester City. With the team struggling near the relegation zone, Pereira will need to shake things up to turn their fortunes around.
Two players who may find themselves dropped to the bench are midfielder Andre and defender Santiago Bueno. Despite a strong start to the season, Andre has struggled in recent weeks, winning just two of five duels in his last outing against Ipswich Town before being substituted at halftime.
Bueno has also been below par lately, with poor performances throughout December. Against Ipswich, he won only three of eight duels and failed to make a single interception. His lack of defensive solidity has been costly as Wolves have conceded 11 goals in their last three league matches.
Pereira may opt to start Tommy Doyle in midfield instead of Andre, with the youngster impressing as a substitute recently. In defense, the experienced Craig Dawson could replace Bueno to help shore up the backline.
Whatever lineup he chooses, Pereira will be desperate for a positive result in his debut match to lift Wolves away from danger. Tough decisions may need to be made, but the new manager must put the team’s survival hopes first as he looks to make an immediate impact at Molineux.
