Pereira can unleash Wolves’ attacking threat to offset Ait-Nouri’s absence
Wolverhampton Wanderers have appointed Vitor Pereira as their new manager following Gary O’Neil’s dismissal. Pereira faces an immediate challenge in his first match away to Leicester City, as key defender Rayan Ait-Nouri is suspended.
Ait-Nouri’s absence is a significant blow, as the left-back has been ever-present this season, contributing 3 goals and 3 assists in 16 Premier League appearances. His attacking output and defensive solidity will be sorely missed.
However, this presents an opportunity for Pereira to unleash summer signing Rodrigo Gomes on the left flank. The 20-year-old Portuguese winger impressed in pre-season but has seen limited action so far, averaging just 31 minutes per game.
Gomes showed his potential last season at Braga, scoring 9 goals and providing 8 assists across all competitions. While he has yet to register a goal or assist for Wolves, increased playing time could allow him to showcase the attacking threat that prompted his £12.7 million transfer.
If Pereira can guide Wolves to victory against Leicester, it could kickstart their push away from the relegation zone. Unleashing an attacking talent like Gomes may prove key to offsetting Ait-Nouri’s absence and reinvigorating Wolves’ attack.
