Parma set to acquire Philadelphia Union defender Wagner in 2025
According to reports, Italian side Parma is on the verge of signing Philadelphia Union defender Kai Wagner during the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old German-born left-back has been with Philadelphia Union since 2019, making 169 appearances in Major League Soccer and contributing 5 goals and 37 assists.
While Wagner’s contract with Philadelphia runs through 2026 with an option to extend, he is widely expected to depart in January. Parma appears to have beaten out interest from English clubs Coventry City and Burnley for Wagner’s signature.
Parma, who were promoted to Serie A last summer, are looking to bolster their squad after a challenging start to the season. The club hopes Wagner can provide an attacking threat from the left side of defense for manager Fabio Pecchia’s system.
The potential signing of Wagner represents an opportunity for Parma to add an experienced and productive fullback as they aim to improve their standing in Serie A. His attacking prowess could be a valuable asset for Pecchia’s tactical approach going forward.
