Paolo Maldini Honors AC Milan’s 125th Anniversary with Touching Message
Despite his absence from AC Milan’s 125th-anniversary celebration, Paolo Maldini, the legendary former captain and technical director, took to social media to express his enduring connection to the club. In a poignant message, Maldini stated, “Happy 125th birthday, AC Milan! No one can ever diminish the bond between you and the Maldini family. History is memory.”
Accompanying his message, Maldini shared a series of photographs on Instagram featuring three generations of Maldinis in AC Milan jerseys, from his father Cesare to his sons Christian and Daniel, the latter now playing for Monza.
Several current and former AC Milan players, including Mike Maignan, Davide Calabria, Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao, and Sandro Tonali (now with Newcastle), showed their support by liking Maldini’s post.
Maldini’s relationship with AC Milan spans decades, first as a player and later as technical director. His tenure in the latter role ended in the summer of 2023, a year after the club’s most recent Serie A title victory. Since then, Maldini and the club’s ownership, RedBird, have parted ways, with Maldini now focusing on new ventures while remaining a devoted fan of the Rossoneri.
The anniversary celebration also saw notable absences from other Milan legends, including Gianni Rivera, Fabio Capello, Arrigo Sacchi, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Dida, Kaká, Alessandro Nesta, and Adriano Galliani. These absences were attributed to various personal commitments and circumstances.
