Neymar Reflects on His PSG Journey: A Mix of Triumphs and Challenges
Brazilian football star Neymar Jr., now playing for Al Hilal, recently shared his thoughts on his tenure with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The 32-year-old attacker described his experience as a mixture of positive and negative moments.
Neymar’s transfer to PSG in 2017 was a landmark event in football history, with the French club paying a record-breaking €222 million to activate his release clause at Barcelona. This move remains one of the most high-profile transfers in the sport’s history.
During his six-year stint at PSG, Neymar achieved considerable success. He contributed to the team’s impressive haul of 14 trophies, including five Ligue 1 titles and five Coupe de France victories. The Brazilian also helped PSG secure two Coupe de la Ligue titles and four Trophée des Champions.
Reflecting on his time in Paris, Neymar stated, “My experience at PSG had its highs and lows. On the positive side, I believe I reached the pinnacle of my career in terms of football performance. However, the downside was the frequent and prolonged injuries I suffered, which often prevented me from completing a full season.”
Despite the numerous domestic successes, the UEFA Champions League title remained elusive for Neymar and PSG during his time with the club. Nevertheless, his impact on French football and his role in elevating PSG’s global profile are undeniable.
