Neymar Backs Ronaldo’s View: Saudi League Outshines Ligue 1
Brazilian football star Neymar, 32, has recently made headlines by supporting Cristiano Ronaldo’s controversial stance on the quality of the Saudi Pro League compared to France’s Ligue 1. In a recent interview with CNN, Neymar stated, “From what I’ve observed, the level of the Saudi Pro League is on the rise and currently surpasses that of Ligue 1.”
This statement comes on the heels of Ronaldo’s bold claim last month that the Saudi league outperforms Ligue 1, despite the Portuguese player never having competed in the French top division. Neymar, however, brings six years of experience with Paris Saint-Germain to his assessment.
The Brazilian forward, who joined Al-Hilal in Riyadh after being deemed surplus to requirements at PSG, acknowledged Ligue 1’s strengths but maintained his stance on the superior quality of players in the Saudi league. This move to Al-Hilal came with a staggering €90 million transfer fee, given Neymar’s contract with PSG was set to run until 2026.
Despite his praise for the Saudi Pro League, Neymar hinted at the possibility of reuniting with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami. “Reforming that trio would be intriguing,” Neymar commented, adding that while he’s content in Saudi Arabia, the unpredictable nature of football leaves room for surprises.
As Neymar’s contract with Al-Hilal is set to expire next June, speculation about his future continues to grow. The possibility of the celebrated MSN (Messi-Suarez-Neymar) trio reforming in the MLS remains an exciting prospect for football fans worldwide.
