Napoli Targets Roma Captain Pellegrini for January Transfer
According to multiple Italian sources, Napoli has set their sights on Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini as a potential January transfer target. The Partenopei are looking to bolster their midfield options in the upcoming transfer window.
Pellegrini, who has been facing difficulties at Roma this season, has emerged as one of coach Conte’s primary targets. The 28-year-old Italian international has struggled for playing time under new manager Claudio Ranieri, having spent three of the last four Serie A matches on the bench.
This season has been particularly challenging for Pellegrini. He has managed just one goal and two assists in 18 appearances across all competitions. Additionally, he has faced criticism from some fans who unfairly accused him of contributing to Daniele De Rossi’s dismissal as coach.
Despite having a contract with Roma until June 2026, Napoli sees an opportunity to bring the midfielder to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The club is also reportedly interested in Juventus captain Danilo, although it remains uncertain whether the Turin side would be willing to let the Brazilian defender join a direct rival mid-season.
As the January transfer window approaches, it will be interesting to see if Napoli can secure Pellegrini’s services and how such a move might impact both clubs’ prospects for the remainder of the season.
