Napoli Targets Juventus Defender Danilo, But Must Sell First
Napoli has identified Juventus defender Danilo as their top choice to bolster Antonio Conte’s defense. However, the club needs to create space in their squad by transferring players seeking more playing time elsewhere before pursuing the Brazilian international.
The need for a center-back became crucial for Napoli after Alessandro Buongiorno’s injury, which will sideline him until mid-January. This situation has forced Conte to rely on Juan Jesus or Rafa Marin, who are not considered sufficiently reliable options.
To make room for new signings, Napoli is looking to offload several players. Midfielder Michael Folorunsho, left-back Leonardo Spinazzola, and forward Giacomo Raspadori are among the top candidates for departure.
Danilo is seen as an ideal fit for Napoli due to his experience and versatility, capable of playing on both sides of the defense as well as in central positions. With his contract at Juventus expiring next summer, there’s potential for a swap deal involving Danilo and Nicolò Fagioli in exchange for Raspadori, who is highly regarded by Juventus coach Thiago Motta.
Fiorentina has shown interest in Folorunsho and Spinazzola, which could pave the way for Napoli to accelerate negotiations with Juventus. Additionally, center-back Rafa Marin might move to Como in search of more playing time under Cesc Fabregas, having failed to start a Serie A match for Napoli since his arrival last summer.
These potential outgoing transfers are crucial for Napoli’s ability to strengthen their defense with high-profile targets like Danilo, as they look to address their backline issues in the upcoming transfer window.
