Napoli Cautious About January Transfers to Maintain Team Balance
Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna has expressed caution regarding potential January transfers, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the team’s current balance. Speaking ahead of Napoli’s away match against Genoa, Manna highlighted the challenges of mid-season acquisitions.
“The January transfer window is always challenging,” Manna stated. “We must be careful not to disrupt the team’s delicate equilibrium. While we’re open to opportunities that could benefit us both short and long-term, our priority is preserving the squad’s harmony.”
Manna addressed rumors linking Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini to Napoli, saying, “We don’t comment on players from other clubs. Our focus is on our current squad and potential opportunities that may arise.”
Regarding contract renewals, Manna confirmed ongoing negotiations with goalkeeper Alex Meret and other key players. “We’re working on extending Meret’s contract, as well as Olivera’s and others. We’re planning for the future and are optimistic, as these players are eager to continue their journey with Napoli.”
As Napoli aims to catch up with league leaders, Manna stressed the competitive nature of the season: “Every match is challenging. We must earn our points through determination and effort in each game, as all opponents are well-organized in this tough league.”
