Moratti Reminisces About Inter Milan Ownership and Praises Current Team
In a recent interview, former Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti shared his thoughts on the club he once led. Moratti recounted the day he acquired Inter in 1995, despite his wife’s initial reluctance. He joked that Inter fans were suffering more than anyone else at the time, which helped persuade his wife to accept the purchase.
Moratti expressed no regrets about buying Inter, but interestingly, his wife now wishes they still owned the club. He acknowledged feeling nostalgic but recognized the changing landscape of football ownership, citing the success of foreign owners in the English Premier League.
Discussing the sale to Erick Thohir in 2013, Moratti explained it was a response to the globalization of football and rising costs. He praised the current owners, Oaktree Capital, for their management of the club.
Moratti also shared his admiration for the current Inter team, describing them as a “steel team that never loses its way.” He commended coach Simone Inzaghi as “formidable” and believes the team has great potential.
While expressing fond memories of José Mourinho’s tenure, Moratti revealed that his favorite Inter team was actually the one led by Luigi Simoni, featuring the original Ronaldo. He lamented that this team won less than it deserved, hinting at controversial circumstances.
