Morata Sidelined for Milan’s Match Against Verona Due to Tonsillitis
Milan’s forward Alvaro Morata will not participate in the upcoming match against Verona. As revealed by coach Paulo Fonseca during the pre-match press conference, Morata is suffering from tonsillitis and will be unavailable for the game scheduled for Friday, December 20th at 20:45.
The Spanish striker had recently returned to action as a substitute in the second half against Genoa, following an adductor muscle strain sustained during the Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade. Although the injury proved less severe than initially feared, Milan will now have to face Verona without their number nine.
Addressing the situation, Fonseca stated, “We started without injuries, but then issues arose. Pulisic returned from international duty with a problem, and now we have Musah and Loftus-Cheek sidelined. We also have Okafor, and now Morata with tonsillitis. However, this presents an opportunity for our young players.”
When questioned about potential replacements, Fonseca mentioned, “Tammy Abraham will likely start, with Francesco Camarda ready on the bench. Some young players will be with us tomorrow, and a few might get playing time.” He also addressed the possibility of starting both Camarda and Abraham together, saying, “I considered this option earlier in the week, but given Morata’s situation, I don’t think we can start with two strikers.”
This unexpected development opens up opportunities for Milan’s younger talents to showcase their abilities in a crucial Serie A fixture.
