Monza Coach Nesta: “We Must Stay in the Race Despite Poor Standings”
Following Monza’s narrow 2-1 defeat against Juventus, coach Alessandro Nesta shared his thoughts with DAZN. Despite praising his team’s overall performance, Nesta expressed concern about their position at the bottom of the Serie A table.
“We played an excellent match,” Nesta began, “but unfortunately, we often tarnish these performances with situations where we could do much better. It’s truly a shame, as we’ve been discussing the same issues lately.”
The coach highlighted the team’s renewed spirit, especially against a formidable opponent like Juventus. “I’m pleased with our spirit, which had been missing in our match against Lecce,” he added.
Reflecting on the challenging week following the Lecce defeat, Nesta said, “Unfortunately, we’re not earning points. It’s been a tough week after the loss in Lecce, both in terms of result and performance. We approached this game well, and at halftime, I encouraged the team to continue, knowing Juventus would leave us some opportunities.”
Looking ahead to crucial matches against Parma and Cagliari, Nesta emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mentality. “We must approach these games with courage and consistency throughout the 90 minutes. Otherwise, it seems like the team isn’t present,” he explained.
Nesta concluded with a stark warning about the team’s current standing: “The table looks ugly, and we can’t afford to fall behind. We need to make some moves and reconnect as soon as possible, or else we’ll be in real trouble.”
