Milan’s Theo Hernandez Dilemma Continues as Fonseca Favors Jimenez

Despite Milan coach Paulo Fonseca’s attempts to downplay the Theo Hernandez situation in a recent press conference, citing the French player’s suboptimal physical condition, the issue remains unresolved. Fonseca, who praised Hernandez as the world’s best full-back, seems to be trying to minimize tensions during a challenging period for the club.

However, just before the press conference, Fonseca was seen testing Jimenez with the starting lineup. This suggests that Hernandez may once again start on the bench for the upcoming match in Verona, despite his efforts in training this week.

The Hernandez case continues to be a point of contention. It’s unusual for a player considered the world’s best left-back to face criticism from his own fans and be benched for two consecutive matches. This situation may influence Hernandez’s thoughts on contract renewal. While staying with Milan has always been his priority, he has yet to establish a strong connection with Fonseca.

For the rest of the lineup, Fonseca’s choices seem limited. With Jimenez likely to start, the defensive line is expected to include Emerson Royal, Gabbia, and Thiaw. Fofana will likely pair with Reijnders in midfield. Due to Morata’s unavailability and the decision not to use two strikers, young Mattia Liberali may again play behind Abraham, with Chukwueze on the right and Leao on the left. Francesco Camarda is expected to start on the bench.
